Amarillo Gear Company has been in continual operation in Amarillo, Texas since 1917, and manufacturing the largest range of spiral bevel right angle gear drives in the world since 1934.
Our first product line consisted of right angle drives used with vertical turbine pump applications. When combined with a pump and engine, these right angle pump drives are generally used in agricultural irrigation applications. We also manufacture right angle pump drives for use with fire water protection systems, marine liquid barge systems, and other industrial applications.
Another cornerstone or Amarillo Gear is our product line of right angle fan drives manufactured for use in wet cooling towers, fin-tube heat exchangers and air-cooled condensers. In these applications, a motor is coupled to the input shaft and a fan mounted to the output shaft. These applications span industries from electrical power generation to HVAC. We also manufacture gear drives used on wind machines manufactured by Amarillo Wind Machine , Exeter, California. Wind machines are used for frost prevention in vineyard and orchard operations.
Amarillo Gear right angle drives are offered in a variety of models, ratios, and power ratings. Rated power ranges are from 5hp (3.7 kW) to 3,000 hp (2,237 kW). Amarillo Gear maintains a strict quality program which encompasses each employee. We are ISO 9001:2008 compliant. Every gear drive is manufactured to precise specifications from top quality materials. Amarillo Gear offers the only complete gear drive testing facility in the industry. By use of our “state-of-the-art” testing laboratory, Amarillo Gear can provide complete noise, temperature and vibration certification. All data is taken under full thrust and power loading up to 500 hp (373 kW).
